Fluid Mask 3 released
Vertus today launched Fluid Mask 3, the latest release of its masking software previously only available as a Windows beta release. The software is designed to easily separate problem images -- such as human hair and tree leaves -- by leveraging a more effective edge detection system alongside improved "Smart Blending" functionality; Fluid Mask 3 presents a slider that enables users to seamlessly switch between "Smart Blending" and standard feather blending. Users can invoke complex edge and special hair blending algorithms within focused areas, which Vertus says automatically cuts out tricky edges and difficult hair -- such as highlights and hair with wide color differences. The update offers improvements to the initial image processing time for a speed increase of up to 40 percent for users operating on multi-processor systems. Vertus has also improved the workflow of Fluid Mask 3, adding new tools like a "Save Settings" option and a color sampler in the Color Workspace palette. Fluid Mask 3 is priced at $325, and requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later.

Sloppy...
Nowhere is it mentioned in your article that this software requires Photoshop CS2 or CS3. It may be self-evident to those who know the software, but this kind of assumption makes for sloppy journalism. Fluid Mask 3 is essentially a Photoshop plug-in, and it seems perfectly obvious that some mention of this is necessary in this article if it is to be complete.
