Moto RAZR2 V9 at FCC

Motorola's RAZR2 V9 will be available soon through AT&T, a newly public FCC filing shows. The publication includes a copy of the phone's manual and explicitly reveals that the American carrier will both include the new RAZR in its lineup and market it as an entertainment device, packaging the phone with support for downloading streaming Internet music and video over the provider's HSDPA-based 3G wireless network. Owners will also have access to buying content through AT&T's store.

No cosmetic or technical changes appear to have been made to the original Motorola design, which comes in a metallic red with a 2-megapixel camera, 2-inch external touch display, and extensive support for music and video formats (including AAC and MPEG-4) loaded on to a microSD card up to 2GB in size. As with most FCC documents, the texts will not confirm a release date but were filed in mid-May, suggesting that Motorola will meet its target of shipping the phone in the US by the end of the summer.

    A little too late?

I've got the V2, which is almost identical to V3 (form-wise). If the user interface is as terrible as the V2, I'm afraid this will be one of the "a little bit too late" releases, now that I've seen the iPhone.

    RAZR2 interface changes

The V9 is closer to the original RAZR interface, though it's supposed to have a few changes.

If you're looking for a real change, pick up the V8 when it shows up -- that uses a Linux-based OS and it should be much friendlier (who knew Linux could be more user-friendly?)
