iPhone: iZoho; monitoring
In brief: Zoho documents come to the iPhone, a widget opens up network monitoring, and two more companies introduce cases. Zoho, the maker of its self-named online office suite, has introduced a new version better suited to the iPhone. iZoho allows full access to Writer, Sheet and Show documents (all free), but greatly changes the appearance, making it more consistent with other iPhone applications as well as more practical in terms of the touchscreen. Programs so far missing from iZoho include Meeting, Planner and Wiki. No mention has been made of future conversions.
Network monitoring comes to the iPhone
Another contribution to productive iPhone software comes from R-U-ON, which has developed a new web widget for its hosted network monitoring tool. By simply visiting the URL from an iPhone and logging on, users can quickly see the color-coded status bars of multiple ports, servers and URLs. Users must first be registered with R-U-ON; widgets are also available in Mac and Google Gadget form.
DLO joins ranks of case producers
Well known for its iPod accessories, Digital Lifestyle Outfitters has followed others into the realm of iPhone cases. The Jam Jacket comes in blue-, black-, pink- or frost-colored silicone, and has special holding slots on the back to keep earbuds tight and untangled. The HipCase meanwhile comes in a single shade of leather, and has an unusual horizontal belt clip, allowing phones to sit in the sideways position as well. Special notches keep the headset jack open regardless of which way an iPhone is sitting. The Jam Jacket is out now for $25; a HipCase costs $35.
USBfever expands product range
A cheaper alternative to DLO's offerings comes from USBfever.com, which is offering an "early-bird" discount on three different products. Its silicone cases add green to the colors of the DLO Jam Jackets, while its lone crystal case (link down) provides rigid protection. Finally, the screen protector guards against dust, scratches and smudges. Its price is $4, while the cases are $5 each.

R-U-On could look better
the iPhone version of R-U-On doesn't look so good on my iphone. it's not built to iphone width, so you have to zoom in when you first load it, and the subpages aren't very well formatted to fit on the page. also, it should use ajax instead of reloading for a better experience.
also there's no option to save the login info -- a must on an iphone, because typing passwords is a pain. hopefully apple will add some kind of keychain support so developers don't have to provide this option.
