iPhone delays of 2-4wks for online orders

iPhone 2-4 week wait


Apple has added the iPhone to its online storefront, listing the 4GB model for $499 and the 8GB model for $599 as previously announced. Customers eager to get their hands on the devices will have to wait, however, as the Cupertino-based company has posted an expected 2-4 week wait for online orders to arrive and also noted that iPhone orders limited to two per customer. AT&T and Apple Stores today opened their doors at 6:00 p.m. ET to sell the first iPhones to thousands of consumers who were anxiously waiting in line -- some of whom began waiting as early as Monday this week -- to purchase the devices.

    got mine

    stoneridge mall, pleasanton california. Went there to check out the line at 5:15PM today, didn't seem too long(only like 500 people ;) , 1.5 hours later walked out with one for a friend of mine and my own.

    now, to activate...

    10 pm customer

    In suburban Chicago, I arrived at an AT&T store at 10pm and ordered one to be delivered overnight by AT&T. The process was simple; unlike any other phone purchase at a wireless store. Employees were not allowed to tell how many they received, or exactly when they sold out, but I was told they were gone in the first two hours. After that time, the salesman said they had been taking orders like mine all even in steady flow.

    I saw...

    I saw 2 8 gig models on sale on ebay as a pair for $10,200. I was supposed to have one, but shortsightedness on the part of another changed all that!

    i walked...

    ...right into the apple store at the AZ biltmore yeterday afternoon and picked up 2 8GB phones (1 for friend).

    was only about 10 left until their next shipment, but sure beat standing in line. or waiting 2-4 weeks.

    so far, loving this thing!

    2 - 4 week wait is over

    Just received noticed that my Apple Online store iPhone order will now shipped on or before 7/6.
