BlackBerry 8320 in Sept

The upgraded version of the BlackBerry Curve known as the 8320 is coming by the end of summer with a host of new features, according to a source with access to the device. Similar to the numberpad-only Pearl 2, the 8320 will gain Wi-Fi to let it browse the web and check BlackBerry mail without resorting to an EDGE connection; its camera will also see a major upgrade to a 3.2-megapixel sensor as well as a better flash and 6X digital zoom.

Other features mentioned in the tip to Electronista include the improved build quality attributed to the Pearl 2, 64MB of memory, a 4.5-hour battery life for calls, and support for protected Windows Media files stored on a microSD card slot.

Most important is that the Curve sequel already has an assigned carrier, the source says. T-Mobile is known to want the device and should carry the phone shortly after its September debut. Silver will be the default color but should be matched by partial and completely black versions that may ship to other networks. As with many early leaks, pricing is unknown but may be comparable to the existing Curve, which sells for roughly $199 with a two-year contract. [via Pinstack]
