Trekstor 250GB DS Pocket

Trekstor this afternoon revealed its 250GB DataStation Pocket t.ub, its compact external drive for notebooks. The new version both boosts capacity to the quarter-terabyte level while maintaining peak efficiency through the company's signature Y-shaped USB cable; the drive plugs into two USB ports at once to prevent a single USB interface from becoming a bottleneck. Its black aluminum shell also keeps the inside from overheating without adding significantly to the drive's bulk, the German firm says.

The drive is bundled with Nero's BackItUp 2 and can perform automated one-button backups on any Windows-based PC in addition to password-locking access. It will nevertheless work with any Linux or Mac OS X computer and is pre-formatted out of the box, TrekStor says. The Pocket t.ub ships with its own protective carrying case and is due in mid-July, when it will sell in the US for $250.

    Two USB ports

I hate drives that require two USB drives, since it's impractical on my MacBook Pro with only two USB ports, which happen to be on opposite sides. I bought a Seagate FreeAgent Go drive, and when I saw that it required two USB ports, since it draws too much power for a single port, I returned it. I tried it with only a single port and it didn't work.
