Apple revamps iPhone site

Apple has redesigned and further populated the iPhone section of its website, pushing live a new 20-minute guided tour video and offering easier access to previously posted information. The new video is hosted live and includes demonstrations of device functionality, as well as diagrammed shots of the iPhone's physical controls. Meanwhile, the site now prominently states that the iPhone will require an iTunes account, and links to various press releases; one announcing Web 2.0 app-only development, another announcing the YouTube partnership, etc. A new "Where to Buy" section offers location services for Apple retail stores, AT&T stores, and saying that online purchase is "Coming soon."

Can you say unlocked gsm ???

Rogers is an effective monopoly on gsm in Canada - I imagine making any negotiating of special 'deals' a little tougher, especially since Rogers offers music downloads... ;-)

Oh about GSM

No GSM is a frequency of such. You basically have a GSM receiver in your phone, or a CDMA or TDMA or what the h*** every.

Unlocked phones basically allow you to set up service with any provider which the iPhones are locked.

I work at a phone company BTW.

Can't they get someone without an annoying California accent to do voice work? I'm already tired of hearing about the "iFyune."

HAHAHAHAHAH! That's not a california accent, i think it's more of an oregon/washington accent. But yea, that is annoying.

TOUR: ICAL IS FORGOTTEN?

06/23, 01:27pm reply

A little feedback regarding iPhone:

Unless you're a kid, you spend more time with your phone calls, iCal and emails than watching Pirates of the Caribbean and Cars on your small device. I have PDAs since Palm IIIxe (the plastic ones), and always is the same. You play with your toy and finally you end up using the core every-day applications. I'm just curious why Apple didn't make any presentation regarding iCal. The integration of an organizer (iCal or whatever), phone and emails is key for any business man, planner, or student.

Don't take me wrong, I like and use apple products, however it seems that Apple iphone news are targeting people of 10 years old.

great point Ramiro

That 20 minute demo is quite revealing in that it goes into more detail on the various functions of the device. It only served to drop my jaw lower as I saw just how much thought has gone into this thing.

Ramiro, I think (hope?) they were just hitting the ground-breaking stuff. Syncing, e-mail and all that has been done for some time. Not much gee-whiz factor in that.

Will it run without plan?

06/25, 09:35am reply

What if I think it's a great video ipod and a great internet access device (via wifi) and I don't want it to be a phone?

Will it power up and run without a phone plan?

Good question. Knowing both Apple and AT&T I doubt it.
