Sony-Ericsson shows bevy of Bluetooth, music add-ons

Sony-Ericsson Add-ons 2007

As part of its major phone introductions, Sony-Ericsson has also revealed a large suite of accessories all made for music listening. Topping the list, the MDS-65 is one of the company's few full-sized speaker docks and centers around a new type of dock connector that rotates, letting virtually any Walkman phone and several of the company's standard phones play music while they charge from either the stand's disposable batteries or a wall outlet when the speaker set is plugged in. It ships to several regions in summer with a price to be set later.

A further addition is the FM Music Transmitter, an attachment similar to the iTrip and other tuners that connects to the bottom of the same phones to stream audio through any user-selectable FM station to a car or home stereo. It also ships in summer, Sony-Ericsson says.

Three Bluetooth stereo headsets are joining the launch for enjoying music as well as taking hands-free calls: the HPM-83 is designed for street comfort with a behind-the-head band, while the HPM-90 and the HBH-DS200 includes intelligent management that pauses music for calls and features track controls for navigating songs without reaching for the phone itself. The DS200 arrives by the end of June and should be followed by the HPM-83 in summer and the HPM-90 in the fall.
