Toshiba TW355U Projector

Continuing its series of announcements today, Toshiba has launched a new projector bringing Wi-Fi and other technologies to a relatively affordable level. The TW355U integrates 802.11g wireless to let nearby notebooks send presentations to a larger screen without carrying otherwise necessary (but supported) video or Ethernet cables. Those wanting to bypass a computer altogether can slot in PC Cards with built-in storage and have access to a USB port. DVI and VGA input for computers are braced by individual RCA and S-video input jacks.

The DLP-based unit also has enough lamp power and quality to drive sharper images in larger rooms, with a 3,500 lumen brightness level and a more vivid 2,000:1 contrast ratio; the display puts out a 1024x768 image more suitable for computer images but accepts HDTV input as sharp as 720p or 1080i. Its 1.5X zoom lens can throw the image as near as 3.8 feet away from the projector or as far as 45 feet at a 300-inch size.

Toshiba says the TW355U is shipping now, and should hold an average street price of $2,199 at most resellers.
