Ogo 2 GSM at FCC
IXI's Ogo 2.0 portable communicator will be available for the US, according to a new FCC filing. Although the device has already been targeted for a summer US release through the relatively small carrier Revol on CDMA networks, the version tested by the American government will include a quad-band GSM radio as well as EDGE Internet access -- promising both full roaming support on American and European networks as well as full-speed messaging through e-mail and IM networks.
Also like the CDMA version, the Ogo includes a slot to attach OgoClip extras depending on needs, such as a 2-megapixel camera, a portable Bluetooth headset, and other peripherals as IXI expands the platform.
Similar to many FCC approvals, the latest filing makes no specific mention of when the new Ogo will be released or for what price, but its appearance clears a path for use through either AT&T or T-Mobile.
