Shuttle DVO G6 and P3

Small form factor PC maker Shuttle has chosen the Computex expo as the launch point for three new case designs. The D'VO (pictured) takes advantage of Intel's new Series 3 platform to create an enhanced home theater: the G33 Express chipset in particular gives native HDMI video output with 7.1-channel surround sound while depending only on X3100 integrated video. The chassis itself also picks up a front LCD for playing CDs, MP3s, and WMA tracks independently of Windows and comes with a remote control for steering music. The gold-accented system will work with any current and near-future Core 2 Duo desktop processors, including the 45nm Penryn variant.

Also released are several cases for more conventional use, dropping the front LCD The Glamor series includes the G5, which forms the basis for the D'VO, as well as the equivalent G2 for users who prefer to base their systems on AMD's Athlon 64 X2 and, eventually, Phenom processors. The G6 includes AMD- and Intel-friendly versions but stands out from the line through its luxurious front face, according to the company. Unlike the subtler models, the G6 embeds a panel of Swarovski crystals across its power button area.

Two performance-minded systems make up the last addition, the Prima series. Both the P35P3 and X38P3 use the fastest of Intel's 3-series mainboards and include support for DDR3 memory, a 1,333MHz system bus, and PCI Express 2.0 graphics that offer double the theoretical bandwidth of the current standard. The X38 model uses Intel's most advanced platform and includes dual PCI Express slots for pairing AMD video cards in a CrossFire layout.

The complete Shuttle update should be available beginning in July, with all models in shops worldwide by August.
