Tuesday, June 5thHummer HT1 phone details, photos surface
GM's offroading brand Hummer is on the verge of releasing a cellphone to complement its trucks, new photos and technical details show. The HT1 was designed by French firm ModeLabs to reflect Hummer's military-like style and comes in colors matching the company's most famous vehicles, including a camouflaged khaki green, sable (dark silver), and bright yellow. Despite its utilitarian looks, however, the slider handset also sports media-friendly luxuries, including a 2-megapixel camera, an FM radio, and a microSD slot for media storage. A 256MB card provides room for a handful of media without needing a replacement.
Although rooted in the American car company, the HT1 will be available first in Europe at a price of 300 Euros ($409). The device runs on GSM networks with GPRS Internet support and should work on at least a basic level in the US, though complete support for American providers isn't yet known. [via Unwired View]

And is there a vehicle which says "I don't give a crap about oil consumption, air pollution, or consideration for other drivers!" more clearly than a Hummer?
I guess if they really want these phones to complement the Hummer, they'll be the size of a lunchbox, weigh 36 pounds, and have a battery life of about 4 minutes. They'll be almost impossible for other phone users to walk past, and will start falling apart about 30 seconds after the warranty runs out. Users will rarely be able to put them in their chargers straight, and won't care.

hey folk, freedom ain't fa-ree.
hmm
I bet you guys sleep great at night thinking you're so correct in every sense of the word when it comes to bashing a hummer. For one, why don't you start pointing the finger at everyone in a sports car and slamming them for not being professional racing drivers or using the vehicle on a track? Two, you're probably completely unaware of the fact that many porsches, ALL ferraris and lamborghinis get just as bad if not worse gas mileage than a hummer. Yes, 10 mpg in a V8 Ferrari or a B6 911 Turbo is easy, let alone any full size truck. Think just a little before you type your ill-informed opinions. People can drive what they want anyway, why should you be bothered? You aren't paying their gas anyway! Call everyone in a car with an expensive badge a poseur then. Why limit yourselves to only hummers? That just goes to show how narrowminded you truly are. Not everyone uses these vehicles for showing off outside of night clubs or shopping malls either. Some of us actally are off road enthusiasts. As for this cellphone, its probably just as much a P.O.S. as most other cell phones out there. A hummer however is not, and for the record, the H2 is not just a Tahoe in a tuxedo contrary to popular belief. A quick visit to youtube will prove that theory to be about as correct as Mcdonalds claim for 100% potato french fries.
