HD-SDI/HDMI video scalers
Gefen today rolled out two new professional quality video scalers offering high-end scaling capability designed for broadcasting professionals testing and integrating audio/video systems. The HD-SDI to HDMI (shown at right) and HDMI to HD-SDI Scalers employ Gennum's VXP GF9351 Image Processor that provides genlock control, as well as proprietary 10-bit motion adaptive video interlacing functionality. The Gefen HDMI to HD-SDI ($1,500) and HD-SDI to HDMI (1,300) Scalers each ship with an IR remote and RS-232 ports for menu control and selection. Both Scalers are slated for shipment in June.
The HD-SDI to HDMI Scaler enables users to gauge video performance and testing with consumer displays, converting an HD-SDI source to HDMI format and scaling video in multiple HD resolutions to 1080p. The device outputs digital audio embedded in the HDMI signals and mirrored in S/PDIF format, according to Gefen.
Gefen's HDMI to HD-SDI Scaler connects consumer video sources, such as games, satellite television systems and HD DVD players, to the HD-SDI format, scaling the video in both dual and single link modes for standard and high definition resolutions.
Both scalers are installed with Gefen's plug and play ease, requiring simple connections to perform. A menu guides users through advanced scaling selections including noise reduction, detail enhancements, frame rate conversions, test patterns, color corrections, and custom timing outputs.
