Nokia prepping killer N81 music, N82 camera phones?

Nokia N81 and N82 Rumors

Nokia plans a full attack on the iPhone and other media-savvy devices this year, according to a pair of reported leaks. The N81 (pictured, left) should focus chiefly on music and games: 8GB of flash memory will store music and software, with a native 3.5mm minijack providing headphone output without an adapter. The slider is said to be one of the first N-Gage gaming phones outside of the original and will have dedicated game keys along with music playback controls. Nokia's future handset would also be equipped with rear 2-megapixel and front CIF-resolution cameras for photos, videos, and chats.

Internet access would be provided through Wi-Fi as well as HSDPA; the 2.1GHz frequency of its 3G wireless, however, would limit the advanced technology to Europe and similar areas. Quad-band GSM would ensure that the core phone would still function in North America and would likely contain EDGE support for its mobile broadband.

An alternative that will also be released is the N82, according to the source. The silver-and-white device would bring many of the features of the N95 to a candybar shape. The speciality of the phone will reportedly be its photography: a 5-megapixel camera would be backed with autofocus, Carl Zeiss optics, and a xenon flash for proper focus. True GPS and Wi-Fi should also find their way into the phone, though as with the N81 the device will have its 3G Internet limited to Europe.

Both phones are slated to reach the market in mid-to-late fall of this year. Carriers haven't been set, but will likely focus on AT&T for any future US release. [via Symbian-Guru]
