Zenum Opus smartphone finally inbound

updated 04:55 pm EDT, Thu May 10, 2007

Zenum Opus nearing launch

After considerable delay, Zenum has confirmed that its first smartphone, the Opus, will at last be released later this spring. Once known as the Opus Operis, it appears to have undergone considerable changes, mainly an aesthetic overhaul that includes switching from white to black and enlarging the QWERTY keys for easier typing. Despite indications on the website, it should also ship with Windows Mobile 6 instead of 5. A version with HSDPA broadband is due by the end of 2008.

More particular specfications have also been confirmed. It will be a quad-band GSM phone, and have 64MB of RAM and 128MB of ROM, which can be complemented with miniSD cards. The two-megapixel camera is intact, as is the 2.5-inch touchscreen. It runs on an 850MHz processor, and wireless options are plentiful, including Bluetooth, 802.11b/g and IrDA (infrared). This will come at a cost however, as the expected unlocked price is 799 ($1,081). Zenum intends to ship the Opus around the world. [via Unwired View]
