BVS unveils Yellowjacket 802.11 b/a/g

Berkeley Varitronics Systems has unveiled a new Yellowjacket handheld 802.11 b/a/g Wi-Fi analyzer and spectrum analyzer. The new test receiver system demodulates, sweeps, and analyzes all popular 802.11 Wi-Fi network packets including 802.11b (2.4GHz), 802.11g (2.4GHz) and 802.11a (5GHz). Yellowjacket B/A/G is also a spectrum analyzer (accurate to within +1dB) that measures RF energy allowing detailed interference analysis as well as the ability to see the "whole picture" of a 2.4GHz and 5GHz network WISP or hotpsot. An optional Swarm software bundle creates overlays for mapping coverage analysis. The Yellowjacket B/A/G and Swarm Wi-Fi analysis tools are slated for shipment in the third quarter of 2007.

When equipped with a BVS DF (Direction Finding) antenna, Yellowjacket B/A/G locates and pinpoints rogue APs as well as STAs, and detects spurious interference from sources such as microwave ovens and cordless phones.

Analysis features such as SNR (Signal-to-Noise), Multipath (Ec/Io), Delay Spread, Channel Frequency Response (CFR), SSID and RSSI allow Yellowjacket B/A/G users to perform quick sweeps or detailed surveys using only one tool.

The company is preparing to demonstrate the new device at the ISPCON show in Orlando, Florida from May 23-25 at booth no. 207, as well as the Las Vegas interop Expo from May 20-25 in booth no. 161.
