Fujitsu Santa Rosa Release

Validating earlier FCC leaks, Fujitsu put itself in the midst of the Santa Rosa launch today with four new LifeBook models using the enhanced processors. Commanding the announcement is the T4220 tablet. As confirmed, the system will be unusually quick among tablets with a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo. 1GB of RAM, a 120GB hard drive, and a DVD-RW drive are now part of the stock configuration along with the already-known 802.11a/b/g and Bluetooth. It ships later in the spring starting at $1,750.

Along with the T4220 come two 15.4-inch notebooks. The A6030 is Fujitsu's new home user PC with a 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo, a 120GB hard drive, and Intel X3100 video; rare among portables is a highly sensitive touchpad that can be used for handwriting as well as usual mouse control. The performance-minded and business users will want the E8410, Fujitsu says. While the same size, it has the option of a GeForce 8400M GS graphics chip and 802.11n. It will also be one of the very first Centrino Pro systems to ship, letting IT admins remotely guard and maintain the system even when the notebook is turned off. The A6030 and E8410 ship before the end of June beginning at $1,249 and $1,299 respectively.

Fujitsu has rounded out the introductions with the E8310, one of the few remaining notebooks with a standard-ratio screen that caters to businesses. Its abilities are a close match for the A6030 and help bring the price down to $1,200 for its spring release window.
