iPhone e-mail reveals minor changes

Subscribers to the AT&T iPhone newsletter may be missing very subtle changes to the product in the latest mailing. An animated GIF in the message cycles through generally familiar images of the device, with the exception of the navigation screen -- in the lower-left is a double-arrow button, previously missing from Apple's official introduction at Macworld. Though its exact purpose is unclear, it may be a toggle for zoom functions.

In the lower-right section of the screen is another new icon, in the form of a car. The purpose of this seems much clearer, as Apple has talked about providing traffic data, and Google Maps (used on the iPhone) does have an option to display current traffic conditions for select American cities.

Finally, all screens in the GIF have at last had the "Cingular" identification at the top replaced by "AT&T." In much of AT&T's promotional material, the company continues to refer to the Cingular name, despite the merger of the two entities and plans to eventually operate solely as AT&T.

Ha! The lower left isn't double arrows but the international symbol for restaurants: A knife and a fork.

Cheers!

Exactly. It's a knife and fork, and was there at MacWorld in January. Nothing new here.

How can someone mistake that knife and fork symbol for anything but what it is? I can see that just from the tiny images posted in the article. There's no news here.

This is incredible! The smallest thing like a minor symbol on an iPhone email (which, as it turns out, was misidentified anyway) is cause for a "news" article??? What's next? "If you look closely on slide number 18, you'll notice that the font looks to be 11 point, not 12. The reason for this change is unclear at this time, but it does appear to be a move to a different font size. Stay tuned to Electronista for further developments"
