Griffin's iPod speakers
Griffin Technology today announced shipments of two new speaker systems for iPod: its Amplifi and Journi (pictured at right)-- marking the company's official entry into the expanding portable media player speaker business. Journi is Griffin's personal mobile speaker system housed in a "rugged, tuck-under-your-arm & go-anywhere package." The company says the innovative Wrapstand exterior protects 2.0 stereo system and the iPod while on the go and flips open to create its own stand. It features high-efficiency internal Lithium-Ion batteries recharge with the included AC adapter or through any computer's powered USB port ("Dual Fuel" technology).
An included remote offers control over playback volume and track selection on the connected iPod, while SRS Labs' SRS WOW digital signal processing offers highs and deep, rich bass response through the two-way speaker system. It also features a 1/8-inch (3.5mm) stereo input jack accommodates for non-dockable iPod models and other players. It is available now for $130.
Amplifi (pictured below) is a high-tech contemporary styled 2.1 sound system, offering a compact tabletop footprint, sturdy wood-based construction, and an acoustically tuned enclosure. The 2.1 sound system (left/right as well as base channels) accepts audio input from almost any source through its built-in 3.5mm (1/8-inch) input jack, but offers iPod integration via a convenient docking port on top, and 6 adapters/spacers for a secure fit for any iPod model from the legacy iPod mini to fifth-generation iPod with video.
Amplifi also includes its own slim IR remote and features 2.75-inch high/midrange speakers plus a 5-inch woofer with bass reflex port. It ships with both US and international plug adapters for $150.
