Radeon HD 2900 XT May 14

Virtually all details of the Radeon HD 2900 XT have been revealed, say sources with access to information from AMD's Tunisia press preview. The introductory card will be targeted at the space in between NVIDIA's top-end GeForce 8800 GTX and its more modest GTS: the 2900 XT will have a much more powerful 320 unified shader processors as well as an ultra high-quality 24X anti-aliasing mode known as Custom Filter Anti-Aliasing. 2D video playback will be given a boost by an improved universal decoder with companion hardware for HDMI output with a 5.1 surround sound pass-through.

Although a 1GB card known as the Radeon HD 2900 XTX is known to be in the works, a launch is scheduled on May 14th for the more mainstream 2900 XT with 512MB of memory, a 742MHz core clock speed, and a 1.65GHz effective memory clock competing against the 500MHz and 1.6GHz respectively of the NVIDIA equivalent. A 2900 XL model is also likely with the same amount of memory in a smaller single-slot design later in the year.

The mid-range Radeon HD 2600 and 2400 variants are expected to follow in June, shortly after the 2900 XT makes its appearance. [via The Inquirer]

I don't think current Mac Pro's will be able to handle this graphics card unless it is clocked down. The current power supplies are already close to maxing out with current cards. Should be interesting to see how the "apple specs" turn out.
