Slimline Blu-Ray drive

Fastmac today announced that it has begun shipping the first and only Blu-Ray optical drive upgrade for Apple's PowerBook, iBook, and MacBook Pro notebook systems. The new slimline, slot loading drive provides up to 50GB of storage on one disk without sacrificing compatibility with standard DVD and CD media. The new drive is tested and certified compatible with Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 video production software, and comes with a 1-year warranty as well as a 30-day guarantee. Fastmac's slimline Blu-Ray slot loading optical drive is priced at $800 for a limited time, and requires Mac OS X 10.2.8 or later.

    Beware FastMac

They cancelled all Macbook battery orders after keeping customers on string for three weeks. They do not deliver. It is hard to see why Maccn keeps reporting on their one and only deals. They do not have any.

    shiny

I'll only get it if the actual drive shoots blue laser beams out like the picture.

    That price is insane...

Didn't Pioneer just come out with a $300 drive? I wonder how many of those $800 drives they are going to sell.

    Dropping prices...

... not only are prices dropping, but also none of these can actually play a BluRay movie (if you wanted to).

So, limited use, except as a backup medium.

    Beware starwarrior

I've purchased over $1500 from Fastmac without any problems. They make good products and have good prices. Why are you bashing a company that supports the Mac community?
