In brief: A new dashboard widget has surfaced allowing users quick access to the Live Search engine, Adobe has released its Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in that adds support for raw files in Photoshop CS3, LightWork Design has released a new version of LightWorks, and Artlandia is offering updated pattern design plug-ins that are compatible with Adobe's CS3 software. Entourage Arts announced that Google SketchUp has authorized the company to conduct training classes of its Essentials courses across Canada, and Mariner Software has teamed up with Return Self Software to bundle MacJournal with Avenir. A new widget for Apple's Dashboard technology, the company embedded into Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, allows users to easily access Live Search. The widget displays results directly within its own interface without the need to open a Web browser, and enables users to customize the number of results as well a the language and display.
Adobe adds raw file support
Adobe has released an update to its Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in, offering Photoshop CS3 users access to the 'raw' image formats produced by many professional and midrange digital cameras. The plug-in is updated to support more cameras, includes more features, and is available as part of Photoshop CS3.
The Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in (2.3 and higher) also adds support for raw files in the DNG format.
LightWorks 7.7 released
LightWork Design has released LightWorks 7.7, an update to its rendering software that enhances multi-threading support. The latest release builds upon the existing LightWorks software by improving performance, boasting considerable speedups in rendering times.
The latest revision of LightWorks also adds advances to LightWorks Final Gather, including support for multi-threading which translates to speed increases on multi-processor systems.
Artlandia updates plug-ins
Artlandia has released updated pattern design plug-ins to offer compatibility with Adobe Creative Suite 3 (CS3). The plug-ins -- Artlandia SymmetryWorks 4 and Artlandia SymmetryShop for Adobe Photoshop -- are designed to help users create a wide variety of pattern designs.
The updates are free for users who hold licenses of currently shipping versions, and users of previous versions can upgrade for $75.
Google SketchUp training, writing software bundle
Entourage Arts today announced that Google SketchUp has authorized the company to conduct training classes of its Essentials 1 and 2 courses in locations across Canada.... Mariner Software has teamed up with Return Self Software to bundle MacJournal and Avenir writing software together to offer writers advanced features.
