Sonicfire Pro 4.5 debuts

SmartSound at NAB launched Sonicfire Pro 4.5 and its new BackStage service. Sonicfire Pro 4.5, an update to the company’s music and scoring technology for film and video professionals, features Smart Recall, which brings new customization options to music tracks exported as standard audio file formats. Sonicfire Pro music scores which have been exported as .WAV or .AIFF files are now embedded with the project information used to create the track. The company said that scores can be opened in Sonicfire Pro 4 directly from a video editing timeline to make changes for length, arrangement and mix as a production evolves.

Sonicfire Pro 4.5 also debuts a Network Edition for editors who worked in a networked environment. The Network Edition includes Express Track, which takes music library search engines to the next level by including the ability to specify exact lengths, arrangement and individual instrument levels of any track found through a search before bringing it into a video editing timeline.

The new BackStage service brings new music content and automated solutions to production companies and other post-production professionals. The new Automatic Cue Sheet service in BackStage converts Edit Decision Lists (EDLs) exported from video editing systems to cue sheets with cue lengths, names, composer and publisher information automatically completed for SmartSound music and more than 160,000 tracks from other music libraries.

BackStage also features premium music content that matches the exclusivity and quality of needledrop music with the advantage of SmartSound's customization technology and royalty-free licensing. Customers can also submit their own private music for encoding or request custom-composed music from SmartSound's team of composers - in both cases, the company said, the music will have the same customization abilities as tracks from SmartSound's music library.

Existing owners of Smartsound Sonicfire Pro 4 can receive Sonicfire Pro 4.5 Standard Edition as a free upgrade or receive a limited-time discount price of $50 per seat to upgrade to the Network Edition. This discounted price is limited to two seats. Sonicfire Pro 4.5 Standard is $200 per seat, while the Network edition is $300 per seat.
