Briefly: DeckLink certified; Extensis patent

In brief: Blackmagic Design has announced that Apple has qualified its DeckLink HD Extreme as well as its DeckLink HD Pro capture cards for Final Cut Studio 5.1, Extensis was awarded a patent for its Font Sense technology found in its font management applications, and Adobe has chosen lynda.com as the exclusive producer of in-the-box video training for its new Adobe Creative Suite 3 software. AppleScript Pro Sessions is preparing to cover Adobe's Creative Suite 3 in a five-day training event in Denver, Speck Products is holding a sale on much of its iPod merchandise, and the Portland Mac Creative User Group is holding a meeting next Tuesday on April 17th with an open forum to discuss future topics of interest.

Blackmagic Design, Apple certified

Apple has officially certified Blackmagic Design's DeckLink HD Extreme and DeckLink HD Pro capture cards for its Final Cut Studio 5.1 pro software. The cards are the first capture devices to receive qualification for Final Cut Studio 5.1, via rigorous testing and analysis to ensure that devices are compatible with current Apple hardware and software.

Extensis granted Font Sense patent

Extensis today announced that the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office has granted the company a patent for its Font Sense technology, which is used in its own font management applications to ensure that an application can activate the exact version of a font.

The patent (no. 7,197,706) is titled "Method and System for Ensuring Accurate Font Matching in Documents," joins several other patents filed by the company ahead of additional pending patent applications in the U.S.

Lynda.com chosen for CS3 video training

Adobe has selected lynda.com as the exclusive producer of in-the-box video training for its new Adobe Creative Sute 3 software. Lynda.com currently offers more than 200 produced training videos which will come bundled with all of the new Creative Suite 3 editions, and CS3 training courses will be on display during the NAB conference at the Las Vegas Convention Center (booth no. SL2028).

AppleScript Pro sessions, Speck sale, PMCUG meeting

AppleScript Pro Sessions is gearing up to cover Adobe's Creative Suite 3 software via a five-day training event in Denver that features in-depth coverage of major scriptable applications.... Speck Products is holding a spring sale with cases for Apple's iPod as well as various cellular phones from under $10.... The Portland Mac Creative User Group (PMCUG) will offer an open forum to discuss future topics of interest and provide members to meet everyone in the group on April 17th from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
