AT&T: iPhone to launch June 11?

updated 08:25 am EDT, Fri March 30, 2007

iPhone May Ship June 11

Apple's first cellphone should ship on June 11, according to a customer service manager at AT&T. The senior staffer at the company confirmed the date when reporter Declan McCullagh contacted them late Thursday. No other information about the release was available at this point, AT&T said. Apple has so far resisted committing to a precise launch date, so far only pointing to the whole month of June as its official release window.

While the date may be an internal estimate, it also coincides with the opening day of Apple's WWDC 2007 developer sessions. Recent years have seen company CEO Steve Jobs deliver an opening keynote for the conference headlined by developer-related product announcements as well as information about the retail sales channel. The 2007 show is expected to focus primarily on Mac OS X Leopard, some of whose technologies are included as part of the iPhone's mobile software platform.

    Coincidental Date?!?!

6-11 is also the number that I dial from my Cingular phone to get Customer Service - what an amazing coincidence of WWDC and the iPhone release date AND the customer service number.

Steve will spend the whole WWDC talking about the iPhone and Apple TV and not talk about OS X or developer issues at all. After all, I didn't talk about Macs at MacWorld. That would be appropriate since office neither platform is open to developers.

    compromied security

I love the sentence about the latest in compromised security. I'm sorry, did I miss the part where Apple said that the AppleTV would be a completely secure and self-contained device, and any hacking of it would be completely impossible? Or, perhaps, the memo that states that removing hard drives from devices, inserting them in other computers, and s******* around with their contents is technically a 'security compromise' (or any more of a compromise than doing this on ANY OTHER PRODUCT!

Well .... that time "9:41" on the iPhone's clock just popped out at me.

    I think at WWDC, they'll talk about how 9 / 4 / 1 are all square numbers.

GO APPLE!!! GO iPHONE!!! GO 9:41!!!
