Refurb MacBook Pros gone

Apple's previously available supply of reconditioned MacBook Pros has disappeared for the time being, leaving price-conscious pro consumers to shop instead for just one MacBook model or a slew of G4-based PowerBooks. The one remaining refurbished MacBook model is Apple's 1.83GHz Intel Core 2 Duo white model with 512MB of memory and a 60GB hard drive for $949. The company's 15-inch G4 PowerBooks currently include the 1.5GHz model with 512MB of memory, an 80GB hard drive, and a Combo drive for $1,249; the 1.67GHz model with 512MB of memory, an 80GB hard drive, and a SuperDrive for $1,299; and the 1.67GHz model with 512MB of memory, an 80GB hard drive, a SuperDrive, and a 128MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 video card for $1,349. Apple's 17-inch PowerBooks include the 1.67GHz model with 512MB of memory and a 100GB hard drive for $1,599; as well as another 1.67GHz model with 512MB of memory and a 120GB hard drive for $1,699.

The Apple Store Canada is also out of reconditioned MacBook Pros, but is offering the 1.83GHz Intel Core 2 Duo white MacBook with 512MB of memory and a 60GB hard drive for CAD $1,099. Canada's online Apple Store is also offering 15-inch G4-based PowerBooks at discounted prices which include the 15-inch 1.5GHz model with 512MB of memory and an 80GB hard drive for CAD $1,679; the 15-inch 1.67GHz model with 512MB and an 80GB hard drive for CAD $1,799; and the 15-inch 1.67GHz model with 512MB of memory and an 80GB hard drive for CAD $1,549.

Canada's 17-inch refurbished PowerBooks include the 1.67GHz model with 512MB of memory and a 100GB hard drive for CAD $2,219; as well as the 1.67GHz model with 512MB of memory and a 120GB hard drive for CAD $1,999.

    This Is Nothing New

They disappeared last weekend too, but were back in full force by Monday morning. They're just selling really well, don't read anything into it other than that....

Gee, I wonder why they're selling so well. You don't think its because people think Apple's current crop are overpriced? Esp. if you just want something simple with a 15" screen (wait, you can't get anything simple with a 15" screen, you're stuck spending $2000 on a lot more then you probably need).
