Miglia debuts TVMAX+

Miglia Technology today announced TVMax+, content collection hub, for use with iPod, AppleTV and Apple that allows users to view their favorite shows on every screen in your home, from your living room to your iPod to your Mac. TVMax+ also doubles as a digital TV tuner, allowing users to watch, pause and record TV shows. Touted as the missing link between TV or video content and Apple TV or iPod, the digital hub offers a range of connectivity options, including coaxial and composite S-video inputs to transform any Mac into a personal video recorder; it also offers the ability to capture VHS, camcorder tapes or DVDs at 640x480 resolution.

The device features a USB 2.0 interface, an analog TV tuner, SD resolution (PAL/NTSC or Pal/SECAM), a connector for an antenna or cable, and several recording formats, including iPod Better, iPod Best, AppleTV, DVD-ready MPEG-2, iMovie ready MPEG-4, abd DivX--all using hardware-based compression. It supports Mac OS X 10.4 running on a G4/500 processor or later, requires USB 2.0 connectivity, and is available for £150 (with a two-year warranty).

Just bought TVMax yesterday. TVMax+ shows up today. It appears that the only difference is the software. However, no mention is made of upgrades. The remote is works intermittently anyway. I will send it back. Miglia dos not resopond to questions on issue. It is most likely better to wait for the apple TV solution.

Software?

What is different about the software?

Will Miglia allow TV Max owners get the new software? Does it integrate with AppleTV better than EyeTV?

So many questions... and to think, my TV Max is only a few months old.
