Altec iPod speaker system

Altec Lansing today debuted its iM600 portable iPod speaker system. The device features a built-in FM receiver, a remote control, and sound field expansion as well as an on-board rechargeable Lithium-ion battery boasting more than seven hours of battery life. Altec's iM600 puts out 16 watts of power, and folds down flat to the size of a small book when not in use. Custom-built dual 2-inch neodymium drivers are designed to produce smooth lows and sharp highs, while fingertip controls complement the integrated iPod docking station that flips open and closed for easier storage. Altec Lansing's inMotion iM600 is slated for shipment some time this month for $150.

The wireless remote allows full iPod song navigation and speaker controls, as well as FM scan and four FM presets. The device also serves as an alarm clock when used with an iPod, but is compatible with most portable audio devices via a 3.5mm auxiliary input jack.
