Samsung phone support for iSync
Nova media has released iSync phone plug-ins 3.3.9 (10), adding support for Samsung E250 and D500 phones as well as the Sony Ericsson K550i and W880i devices. iSync, which is part of Apple's Mac OS X 10.4 operating system, synchronizes data from Address Book and iCal with a mobile phone. The iSync phone plug-ins extend the number of mobile devices usable with iSync, and require Mac OS X 10.4.7 or later with iSync 2.3 or higher.
DuelAdapter ships
Duel Systems has begun shipping its unique DuelAdapter designed as a way to use PC Card devices in newer portables. The adapter plugs into either an ExpressCard 34 or 54 slot and treats externally connected PC Cards as though they were native devices.
Most 16- and 32-bit cards work as though they were a native device, including EDGE and EVDO mobile internet cards, running at full speed due to the ExpressCard bus.
HoMedics iSoundSpa clock
HoMedics has unveiled its iSoundSpa clock ($80) that offers three ways to wake users up: an iPod dock, a beeping tone, or one of six nature tracks such as "rain" or "night." Clock owners can choose to project the current time on the ceiling in blue, and all iPod nano as well as full-sized iPods are supported through adapters.
iSoundSpa clock owners can plug iPod shuffles in through a stereo jack along with CD and other digital audio players. iPods charge as they rest in the dock.
Creative debuts new speakers in Japan
Creative today debuted two new speakers in Japan designed for Apple's iPod. The PlayDock i500 serves as an equivalent to the company's previously announced PlayDock i, and works as a portable all-in-one stereo with video output and a USB port for syncing with PC systems. Two 12W satellite speakerrs and a 24W subwoofer provide up to 16 hours of music on battery power.
Creative also unveiled a newer addition to its TravelSound i that features the same AV and USB connections as the i500 but uses just two 4W satellites for sound. The device boasts 25 hours of battery life, and works with fourth-generation or newer iPods as well as iPod mini and iPod nano.
