Four new Kodak cameras

Kodak on Wednesday contributed its share to the PMA imaging expo, launching a quartet of EasyShare cameras, writes Electronista. The Z712 IS (pictured) leads the introductions as the company's new fixed-lens flagship: the 7.1-megapixel camera features both 12x optical zoom and image stabilization to help in focusing shots. It also has the shortest shutter lag of any camera at its level, Kodak boasts, taking only 0.26 seconds to move from pressing the button to being ready for the next shot. The camera will ship in April for $300.

At the upper-end of its compact EasyShare line is the Z885. The smaller camera increases the resolution to eight megapixels and still manages a true 5x optical zoom: a special light mode boosts sensitivity as high as ISO 8000 for nighttime shots, and 10 scene modes auto-adjust the camera for novices. The Z885 goes on sale a month later, arriving in May for $200.

Two entry-level cameras round out the release, Kodak says. The 6.2-megapixel C613 begins the company's budget line and claims a low $120 price as its key feature, while the C763 boosts the resolution to 7.1 megapixels in a slimmer shape for $180. Both models have 3x optical zoom lenses and arrive in April.
