Sony Cyber-shot Early 2007

Continuing a large string of announcements today, Sony updated its Cyber-shots with four new compact and semi-pro models. The 8-megapixel T-series is sharper than its predecessors and also more media-savvy, the company says: each can connect through a component cable directly or through a new Cyber-shot docking station to output their photos at HD resolution. A special printer is also available that can preview the photos on a TV while printing directly from the camera to make sure a given photo is worth a permanent copy.

More details, cameras, and a gallery follow after the jump.

Two models make up the Cyber-shot T introductions. The T100 ($400) is the leading model and has the strongest optics of any thin Sony camera to date, using a 5X zoom lens and a 3-inch preview LCD. The mid-range T20 drops the price to $330 through 3X zoom and a smaller 2.5-inch screen. Either model has optical image stabilization and ISO 3200 sensitivity. The T100 will ship first in March and will be followed by the T20 in April.

Sony today also enhanced its H-series cameras with enhanced zoom and accuracy. In addition to sporting the same 8-megapixel sensors, ISO 3200, and image stabilization as the new T-series, the H9 and H7 improve on the H2 by ramping the zoom up from 12X to 15X. Both updates are also ideal for amateur sports photos, the camera maker claims, with an adaptive focus that can track ahead of a moving subject and a 1/4000th shutter speed.

The H7 begins the series with a fixed 2.5-inch LCD and will be priced at $400; its more advanced H9 counterpart will carry a 3-inch flip-up LCD and a special NightShot mode for photos in near-total darkness at a price of $480. Both should arrive in stores by April.
