Apple board member Gore 'wins' at Oscars

updated 11:20 am EST, Mon February 26, 2007

Apple board member, Oscars

Former vice president and Apple board member Al Gore last night spoke at the Oscars after the film 'An Inconvenient Truth' -- which features Gore's take on the dangers of global warming -- won two awards for best documentary and best song. While Gore himself did not actually take home the oscars, he used his opportunity on stage to talk about global warming. "My fellow Americans, people all over the world: we need to solve the climate crisis," Gore said as he addressed the audience of the Oscars. "It's not a political issue, it's a moral issue. We have everything we need to get started with the possible will to act. That's a renewable resource. Let's renew it."

Gore also announced that this year was the greenest Academy Award ceremonies in history, with Oscar ballots made from partially recycled paper and organic produce served at the Governor's Ball. Rides for presenters and stars were provided in hybrid vehicles, and meals for hundreds of crew as well as cast members were served on reusable plates and biodegradable dishware, according to CBS.

    I like it

Gore 'wins'. Is the quotes there to indicate something (like he didn't win, but we'll say he did, or he won, but not like he won in 2000).

And who cares about the acadamy awards. Look at all the fuel they saved on the limos! Wow, too bad all the savings were wasted by all the so-called celebrities gallabanting around to their favorite dress shop to continually try on their designer outfits.

But I guess its what you expect from a country where people apparently care "Who you're wearing"

That's the exact reason I don't watch the awards. I'm very happy Gore won but I wasn't going to watch the show just for that piece. Congrats, Al!

Who cares? If they want to have a ceremony let them. Nobody forced you to watch.

Next time you throw a party, shall we all tell you what a waste it is?

Wow, Steve in a tux! First time I've seen him dressed that way since he intro'd the original Mac way back in '84. I suppose his jeans and black mock t-neck wouldn't have cut it for the awards. Though I did notice he didn't have a bow-tie on. Steve's always gotta be different! :)

    hypocrite

It turns out that Gore has his own "inconvenient truth":

His home's energy usage is 20 times the national average.

Now he can afford Lipo. As those of us with memories recall, he ate like a f_cking pig after his hunger for presidential power went unsated (God bless Florida). He was a walking embarrassment.

as those of us with memories recall, Bush stole the 2000 election - or, more accurately, it was stolen for him, Bush has never accomplished anything on his own in his entire miserable life - from the rightful winner, Al Gore.

Walking embarrassment? Please. That is George W. Bush who squandered Clinton's budget surplus, lied us into a war with Iraq (which he is losing), let Bin Laden go free, encouraged Iraqi insurgents to kill American troops, and is losing Afghanistan.

It is George W. Bush who legalized torture, trashed the Constitution, discarded habeas corpus, encouraged Iran and North Korea to obtain nuclear weapons, and generally has turned the entire world against the US.

The only embarrassing thing about Al Gore is that he did not run a better campaign, nor did he fight hard enough to keep the Republicans from stealing the 2000 election.

Bush - selected, not elected. Read Greg Palast and find out the truth.
