In brief: OWC has dropped prices on its Mac Pro memory upgrades and Fastforward on its software offerings, while MacForce has created a Portland Mac Creative User Group, OmniPilot preps for its Lasso Summit in early March, and one developer touts Flow, his new file transfer client.... OWC on Wednesday announced new lower pricing on Apple-qualified memory upgrades for Apple's Mac Pro Quad Xeon computers; priced as low as $166 per gigabyte, the upgrades are available at a savings of 50 percent or more as compared to factory-installed and other competitors, OWC claims. The OWC DIMM (FB-DIMM) 667MHz DDR2 72-Bit ECC fully-buffered memory modules are available in matched sets of 512MB (2x512MB for $200), 1GB (2x1GB for $340), and 2GB (2x2GB for $700) modules for up to 16GB of total memory. A cash-back rebate of up to $250 per set is also available from OWC for the trade-in of Apple factory memory. The company also offers hard drive upgrades for Mac Pro, with 500GB drives available for as low as $140.

In addition, Fastforward has dropped the prices on Nuclear Nova's Ultimate Game Pack, and Koingo's Mac Cleanse privacy software. The former is now $35, while the latter is selling for $15.

Portland Mac Creative User Group

Chris Gear of MacForce has announced the formation of the Portland Mac Creative User Group, which will showcase businesses and technologies specifically devoted to art, entertainment and marketing. The first meeting will occur at MacForce this Tuesday, and run from 6 to 8PM. Companies making presentations will include Wacom, SplashCast, and 52 Limited, a creative staffing service.

Lasso Summit gears up for early March

OmniPilot has published details of the keynote and speaker lineup for Lasso Summit 2007, scheduled for March 2nd to the 4th at the Riverside Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Lasso is of course the company's popular web publishing tool. In advance of the Summit, 15 percent discounts are in effect for products such as Lasso Professional 8.5, as well as various editions of Lasso Studio.

Flow file transfer client coming

Flow is an upcoming remote connection client combined with editing tools, due for public beta in early April. Supported protocols will include .Mac, FTP, SFTP, WebDAV and WebDAV HTTPS.

    OWC memory drops...

    Hey, OWC has dropped their memory again. I swear, they'd lose their heads if they weren't screwed on! Would someone go and pick it up for them. Maybe if you could velcro it to the inside of their coats, they won't let it fall again.
