iRiver launches X20 media player

updated 11:35 am EST, Fri February 16, 2007

iRiver X20 Launched

iRiver began its weekend today by releasing the X20. It serves as a bridge between the company's small Clix 2 and its hard disk-based players, dropping the screen edge buttons of the Clix and S10 in favor of a scroll wheel with edge buttons. The X20 is also unusual for the Korean jukebox maker in its storage options: while the player ships with either 2GB, 4GB, or 8GB of internal flash memory, a microSD card slot extends that space by as much as an extra 2GB.

More info and a full photo can be found after the jump.

More in line with iRiver's history is its ample support for formats: despite a cellphone-sized body and 2.2-inch LCD, the X20 plays MPEG-4 and WMV video clips alongside MP3, OGG, and WMA music. FM radio reception and voice recording are also standard. Battery life is untouched by the larger screen at 22 hours of non-stop audio. iRiver's latest entry will debut in Japan on February 23rd at prices of $157 (2GB), $191 (4GB), and $250 (8GB); a US launch is possible, but hasn't been announced.
