The U.S. Patent & Trademark Office today published four of Apple's continuation patent applications titled " Method for providing stand-in objects," "Auto stacking of time related images," "Management of files in a personal communication device," and "Method and apparatus for implementing a sleep proxy for services on a network." Apple discusses a cellular phone application in its management of files in a personal communications device patent, potentially adding the iPhone as an invention making use of the technology. Another Apple patent surfaced today depicting a new docking device capable of horizontal as well as vertical orientations that hints at a tablet device.
