Refurb Intel Macs dwindle

Apple's supply of reconditioned Intel-based Macs has dwindled with the exception of iMacs, revealing just one MacBook Pro and one Mac mini but no MacBooks available to cost-conscious customers. Refurbished high-end Mac Pro workstations -- of which two models remain -- accompany the new addition of a Wireless Apple Keyboard & Mouse. The only refurbished MacBook Pro left is the 17-inch 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo with 1GB of memory and a 120GB hard drive for $1,999; Apples only remaining reconditioned Mac mini is a 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo with 512MB of memory and an 80GB hard drive for $649. Mac Pro workstations currently include the Quad 2.66GHz Intel Xeon system with 1GB of memory and a 250GB hard drive for $2,199 as well as the Quad 3.0GHz Intel Xeon system with 2GB of memory and a 250GB hard drive for $3,299. The Apple Wireless Keyboard is priced at $49, and the company's now-dated AirPort Extreme wireless card is priced at $39.

The Apple Store Canada is also offering just one reconditioned 17-inch 2.16GHz MacBook Pro, featuring 1GB of memory and a 120GB hard drive for CAD2,299. The Canada Store has no refurbished MacBooks, Mac minis, or even Mac Pro systems to choose from but is offering one iMac model: a 17-inch 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo iMac with 512MB of memory and an 80GB hard drive for CAD939. This is a news story? Someone went to apple.com and is reporting what they see. I need to find some better feeds.

    not news

Availability of refurbushed Macs changes every day with no apparent rhyme or reason. Keep checking. It will keep changing.

    I think the point is...

The hidden point of the story is when the supply of refurbished Macs, as a whole, begin to diminish, it usually means fresh releases. Apple's trying to clean out inventory before new releases and we're due for a new release of the Mac Pro.

An 8-core Mac Pro can't come soon enough for the place where I work. We've been waiting for these babies a while. Check out Mac OS Rummors to see a recent story on the upcoming Mac Pro:
