America, you've been bad, cease and desist.
Australia, you've been good, here's a really cool apple store.
America, you just sit there, be jealous, and think about what you've done.

Bonehead move? Not sure how this dilutes or tarnishes Apple's trademark/product. Seems like a good thing for Apple, no? iPod Mondays all over the place.
Why is this bad?

Yeah a new store for the opposite side of the world... all this while Calgary is left ordering online. (Or using a crappy VAR, seriously I'd rather wait most of the time).

Well, I think that Apple is probably worried about the term "iPod" passing into generic usage. This is a complicated area of law trademark/copyright law, but I assume that Apple is doing this for a reason (other than flexing its legal muscle).
BTW, I thought this article was kind of funny since I live in Des Moines (where this bar is) and I go there on occasion (although never for iPod Mondays)...
