XpertMart goes Universal

XpertMart has released an updated version of XpertMart for Mac, its point-of-sale and inventory control software that runs on Java 5 and is optimized for Intel-based Macs. The latest release runs on the Firebird database manager -- an SQL relational database -- which also runs natively on Intel-based Macs. XpertMart POS software comes with its own set of drivers to handle peripherals such as receipt printers, cash drawers, barcode printers, and portable data terminals. The company notes that legacy Mac users can seamlessly move data to an Intel Mac, as both the PowerPC and Intel-native versions run on the Firebird database. The software is priced at $1,500 for the single-store edition or $2,100 for the multi-store version, and the company is offering a free demonstration version as a digital download from its website (system requirements were unavailable).
