Greenpeace keynote spoof

Briefly Aspyr today released a free demo of the upcoming first person shooter Prey for Mac, which will begin shipping to retail stores in North American next week and will be available for $50.... Following the "greening" of the Apple Store SF earlier this week (see photos), Greenpeace has posted video spoof of a keynote that it hoped Jobs would deliver at the Expo: "Steve Jobs announced the cool new phone, and it looks impressive, but he hasn't committed Apple to more ecologically sound policies... So we went ahead and made a video of the keynote address we'd like to see.".... Apple CEO Steve Jobs lost a bid to demolish a Spanish Colonial Revival-style mansion he owns about 30 miles south of San Francisco, after a California appeals court ruled this week that Jobs and the city of Woodside, where the 17,250-square-foot mansion was built on six acres in about 1925, didn't consider alternatives to destroying the home.

    The Game's Afoot

    I wonder what the strategy is. It could be a move to enhance press coverage as suggested, but if Cisco does have the stronger position Apple will look foolish. Perhaps the suggestion elsewhere on the interweb that Cisco didn't properly protect their trademark is behind Apple's decision. I think we'll know before the product launches...

    house

    Jobs should buy a lot somewhere, move the house, and donate it to the city (or whoever stopped him from tearing it down). Let them deal with it.

    non-issue

    There is no link between the two. Do Jobs' rants against Vista mean there's a problem with Office for Mac development (besides the Microsoft incompetence)? Many companies are starting to produce Apple TV-like devices.

    It's not personal - it's business (except when it's personal).

    GP 'Protest' Overrated

    I was there. I passed by the Apple Store in San Francisco just as they were setting up, again about half an hour into the 'protest' and again about half an hour later... on all three passes the 'protest' was pathetic and the Apple store was doing a booming business as you can expect the night before MWSF. The kids had a green spotlight on scaffolding that they were positioning on the Apple logo on the front of the store... which had NO effect btw, except to block the sidewalk to pedestrians. Maybe a dozen high school/early college kids handing out green flyers but the three I spoke with were unable to form a cogent argument to state their position let alone actually defend their position when challenged - they were FAR more interested in chatting with one another than speaking with the people they were 'protesting' to. I lost what little respect I had for greenpeace that night. It certainly wasn't the dramatic escalation from the New York greening that they promised.

    GreenPeace

    GreanPeace is the shining example of how to have a good cause at heart but go about entirely the wrong way and pick on the wrong people.

    I think GP does more to hurt the environmentalist cause than to help it.

    Oh yeah and that video was extremely unimaginative and heartless.

    Greenpeace = positive

    gamoe I totally disagree. I think Greenpeace is doing a good job here. There message is very positive, "we love Apple" "Apple should go green". They don't say Apple is a criminal or something, they just say Apple products should be green. Moreover they try to do it in a funny way, of course it can be done better. But you can see they made an effort. And did you hear they were singing at Macworld? much better then blocking the entrance or something...
