Boomerang Data Recovery
Digital Frontiers has just announced the shipping of Boomerang, a data recovery application for Mac OS X 10.3 or higher. The application promises to recover virtually any lost data, from individual files on your computer to flash cards, RAID systems, and even external drives that no longer mount properly. It also eases the learning curve by using a number of Mac OS X interface tropes, including Spotlight searches and a Finder-like browser system. Boomerang is a universal binary that requires 256MB of RAM. The full package costs $180 for a single user, but a limited trial is a free 3.4MB download.

Good news.

Glad to see another data recovery product and a new Mac developer. There are so few these days. Definitely will be trying this on a dead hard drive I have.

If it worked well.
Bought it and used to recover documents. Most came back as jibberish. Recovered some text files, but jpegs and mp3s/AACs were trashed.
$180 worth of junk. No thanks.

After spending a weekend downloading trials of the various data recovery software programs including DataRescue, FileDefense, FileSalvage, and opensource "TestDisk"(great program - was able to save a lot of files but not all) .. I found Boomerang the best. I was amazed at the mount of files this program was able to salvage - the jpgs I wanted had been overwritten rather than trashed and this program salvaged all of them. I think this program is a must have for mac users.

I am not going to comment on the product. Be warned their is plenty of evidence out their that their customer service sucks. There is no way to contact them except through a web form and they do not respond after repeated attempts. For more info you can go here.
