Apple cryptographic patent
The U.S. Patent & Trademark Office today published two of Apple's security-related patent applications titled 'Chaos generator for accumulation of stream entropy' and 'Method and apparatus for establishing a secure connection.' The former, which was originally filed in mid-2005, relates to the generation of secure random numbers for use in cryptographic systems. Apple further notes that the patent's method and apparatus is to provide random numbers of cryptographic strength that are suitable for use in cryptographic systems for small devices such as the iPod, cell phone, PDA or other such devices. The latter patent, which was also originally filed in mid-2005, relates to a method and an apparatus that facilitates establishing a secure connection on a communication channel.
