Photoshop CS3 beta posted
Adobe has released the Universal Beta of Photoshop CS3, the next generation version of its industry-standard graphics tool that runs natively on Intel-based Macs. Announced Thursday, the release requires a valid serial number and is only available in English (although non-English users can use their serial numbers). "Adobe has a long-standing commitment to the Mac community and this release is Adobe's way of delivering native performance on Intel based systems many months earlier than we otherwise could have done. We have no doubt, however, that all of our customers will enjoy exploring the new Photoshop CS3 beta and seeing some of the new features we have in store. The full application is not yet complete; but, many of the additions to the product are fully implemented and ready for you to try and discuss." Users without a serial number can use the demo for two days; it will expire when the final version is released.

Adobe, in their infinite wisdom, won't let me enter my Windows Photoshop s/n to get a s/n for the Mac beta version.

offering the public an open beta is brilliant marketing and development effort by adobe. just as parallels is finding out, better to let people beat up on your product and show up on shelves thoroughly tested, rather than release with limited testing. my hat goes off to adobe!

It isn't a true public beta. If you don't have a valid serial you can only use it for 2 days.

The serial numbers being accepted by this beta must be for Photoshop and the 'standard' edition. Hence, the company I work for, which has spent over $150,000 on comprehensive licenses for CS2 Premium, is not able to look at the Beta.
Nice going, Adobe -- just when I thought the tide had actually turned, and Adobe had both a decent new product, and with the release of the Beta, and intelligent corporate strategy... nope!
(Looks pretty though, too bad the 30 day use checkbox only gives you 2 days of actual use)
Adobe = Idiots (as usual)

I didn't realize there was a definition for 'public beta' that says it has to last for more than 2 days or be available to everyone in the public. I thought a public beta meant that the program was available to people in the general public, not limited to a small subset of testers under NDA.
Hey, at least you can use it for a couple of days.

Yep, I can't get my CS2 Premium serial number to work either. I thought it was me until I read the post.

Have a link for feedback to Adobe about this? I tried to get my CS2 Premium serial to work as well and to no avail.

You have to enter your current serial number and then adobe will send you a new serial number that works for the beta.

MacCentral and follow the thread about the beta that explains how to obtain the serial number from your CS2 Premium serial number. I just did and it works fine.

I would rather see an Illustrator beta that doesn't crash freakin 20 times a day like CS2 does on Intel.
