Dell 22-inch budget LCD

Dell today made a preliminary launch of its new E228WFP 22-inch budget display. Listed early on the Dell Australia and Japan websites, the new screen is the first of its size from the company and is aimed directly at cost-conscious users. Input focuses solely on DVI with HDCP encryption support as well as a VGA port, with no USB hubs or TV connections as found on numerous other Dell models. The E228 delivers performance suitable for gaming, according to the company, and is capable of a 5ms gray-to-gray response time with an 800-to-1 contrast ratio -- comparable to the latest 22-inch LCD displays. The display is already shipping in Australia for $550, although Dell has yet to announce a North American release date, according to Electronista.
