BET TV comes to iTunes

BET Networks is making its TV programming available on Apple's iTunes Music Store for the first time, including its new crime docu-drama 'American Gangster.' BET shows available to iTunes customers include 'Countdown to Lockdown' with Lil Kim, 'Soul of a Man' with DMX, 'Beef: The Series,' BET Comic View, and 'The Christies: Committed' from BET's adult-targeted companion. The shows are available for $1.99 per episode, and represent the first wave of BET content to make its way to the iTunes Music Store. "We are delighted that BET programming is now available on iTunes as an important element in BET's global digital strategy," said BET Networks Chairman and CEO Debra Lee. "As the world's most popular digital download store, iTunes is a key platform for serving our existing audience of African-American media super-consumers, and for introducing our breakthrough programming franchises to other audiences."

Narrated by actor Ving Rhames, American Gangster chronicles the rise and fall of the country's most notorious Black criminals and the high toll their actions levied on the Black community. Countdown to Lockdown features hip-hop singer Lil' Kim, taking viewers on an emotional roller coaster ride during her final two weeks of freedom as she prepares to serve a prison sentence for giving false testimony to a federal grand jury.

Beef: The Series explores celebrity controversy featuring conflicts between Lil' Romeo and Bow Wow; Houston's Northside vs. Southside (with Paul Wall, Slim Thug, Bun B, Pimp C and others); The Roc-A-Fella Records break-up (Jay-Z vs. Damon Dash); Dave Chappelle vs. Comedy Central; Oprah Winfrey vs. Rappers; Jay-Z vs. R. Kelly; The Game vs. Ras Kass; Jackie O vs. Foxy Brown; The Source Magazine vs. Kim Osorio; and more.

Best of Comic View features stand-up comedians and joke-makers, offering glimpses of popular comics during the early years of their careers as well as celebrated veterans of BET. Soul of a Man follows DMX in his trials as a famous rapper, father, neighbor, friend, and local citizen in Arizona. The Christies: Committed features NBA star Doug Christie and his wife Jackie as cameras spotlight their celebrity marriage.

    American Gangster

AG was available like 2 weeks ago as a free download. This isn't really new news.

The fact that BET exists is almost unbelievable. It's racism, pure and simple. People act like blacks (there is no such thing as an African-American - show me on a map a place called Africa-America. GG.) are incapable of racism. Watch BET comedy shows - you can't 5 minutes into any black standup without the word "cracker" being used. Let that fly on an all-white network where the N-word is said in the same frequency. Riiight.

I'm crossing my fingers for an all German-American network myself. Can't wait until that hits iTunes. Prolly in 2089.

    Oh boy...

We're blacks because there isn't a place called Africa-America on the map? There isn't a place called "black" either.

As for BET, a white guy named Sumner M. Redstone owns that. He doesn't strike me as a racist, but we could have different definitions of the word.

Jokes aside, it really saddens me to see white people bitching about "racism" endured at the hands of blacks. My grandfather came back to this country from WWII and was denied the right to vote, and you're whining about a racial epitaph, not to mention grossly exaggerating it's usage? That's pretty pathetic.

"Negro" is the race, but interesting how many "blacks" take that as offensive these days.

When negroes go to fight in American wars as part of the military, do they fight for African-Americans, or just Americans? Right. So the plight of the black man has been to struggle for equality, receive it - and what do they do? Take 2 steps backwards by voluntarilty segregating themselves from society by calling themselves something different - something OTHER than an American. Face it, there is no place called Africa-America, therefore, there are no such people called African-Americans. In the US, there is only one type of person who lives here - Americans. Yup, we all have some awesome diversity, which makes us a very interesting melting pot. But one flag, one people, one nation. People who wave different flags (rednecks and the Confederate flag) and people who want to be something other than American (blacks and their diatribe) really have no room here.

"White people bitching about racism"? Guess it's ok for blacks to be racist, huh? Double standards - typical American rhetoric. What's pathetic is to think that in 2006, it's ok for blacks to maintain racial hatred in their day-to-day lingo. Guess racism will always be a two-way street.

    really?

"Negro" is the race???? Yes, "blacks" take that as offensive because of the negative connotation that word holds. That was a name given to people who were brought here from Africa to perform slave labor. Negros were considered a sub-race of people who were not to be considered intelligent, or even human.

So there is no place called Africa-America... How about Germany-America or Italy-America? Using your logic, Italian-Americans and German-Americans don't exist either right?

fashizzle is a troll. Pure and simple. Don't take the bait. He's the kind of coward... The kind of little b**** who wouldn't look you in the eye in person, because he knows he'd get his cracker, yeah, cracker a** kicked.

Ignore him and his mother will call him to dinner soon.

Eat your peas, b****... Or no desert.
