CRYPTOCard authentication
CRYPTOCard today introduced CRYPTO-MAS, its cross-platform software designed to manage authentication to its range of services. The service utilizes token-based two-factor authentication to protect companies and employees against shoulder surfing, social engineering, and other forms of password theft. With CRYPTO-MAS users can log in from any workstation using CRYPTOCard's two-factor authentication tokens. The tokens display a randomly-generated password for every log-on attempt to make stolen credentials useless to malicious users and eliminate the need for users to memorize complicated passwords. Hardware and software token are available along with a monthly fee-based subscription based on numbers of users. CRYPTO-MAS supports Mac OS X, Red Hat, SuSE, and Microsoft Windows.
This approach, according to CRYPTOCard, significantly reduces the help-desk costs associated with lost or forgotten passwords, mandatory password complexity, password expiration, and the security risk resulting from users writing them down.
