Rock Xtreme SL Pro Laptop

Rock completed its notebook line on Monday with the addition of its Xtreme SL Pro. With a 20-inch, 1680x1050 display, the SL Pro is meant as a full desktop replacement for gamers and demanding 3D professionals who still need occasional portability. Slimmer than Dell's XPS M2010, the new Rock system also emphasizes power in twos, according to the system builder. The PC turns to AMD's dual-core Turion 64 X2 for its core CPU and ships with two GeForce Go 7950 GTX graphics chips paired through SLI for extra 3D performance. A Quadro 2500M workstation graphics chip is available for professionals. Media playback is also highlighted in the design, which has as many as two 160GB hard drives and can be outfitted with an internal, digital TV tuner for recording and watching most broadcasts. Rock has made the notebook available today for 2,499 ($4,740) after tax with a standard 2GHz Turion 64 X2, 1GB of RAM, and dual 100GB hard drives.
