NewerTech ships G4 1.6GHz CPU upgrade

Newer Technology (NewerTech) today introduced the new MAXPower G4/7447A 1.6GHz processor upgrade for the Power Mac G4. NewerTech upgrades incorporate FreeScale (formerly Motorola) PowerPC G4 processors, and are capable of doubling or tripling Power Mac performance, according to the company. The upgrades increase universal software compatibility, offering a plug-and-play design for quicker installation. The latest version of the upgrade works with the Power Mac G4 AGP Graphics ("Sawtooth") 100MHz bus, "Gigabit Ethernet" 100MHz bus, "Digital Audio" 133MHz bus, "Quick Silver" 133MHz bus, and the "Quick Silver 2002" 133MHz bus. The upgrade is priced at $250 and comes with a 3-year hardware warranty.
