Geneious Pro 2.5 ships
Biomatters today released Geneious Pro 2.5, an update to its flagship product “Geneious” that allows researchers to do genomic research quicker: it offers tools for sequence alignment, sequence analysis, phylogenetic tree building, PubMed search, the ability to organize sequences and publications in a database, and download protein/gene sequences. "Think of Geneious like 'bio-Google on steroids' – it is the one tool that has successfully allowed biologists to run complex computational diagnostics on genomic information." Version 2.5 adds artificially intelligent searching; allows users to load, view and edit full chromosomes or up to 10,000 HIV genomes; offers primer design & basic contig assembly; delivers publication-quality image export; includes full collaboration with Google Chat integration; and brings interoperability with other tools, such as DNAStar, Mega, Phrap. It is free for academic use, while the Pro version is $133 for academic use and $333 for commercial use.
