Firmware update, MBP whine

Apple's new firmware update, released yesterday, appears to greatly reduce the annoying whine experienced by some MacBook Pro owners. The update was said to address several Boot Camp startup and wake-from sleep issues on its Intel-based Macs. One MacNN reader reports having to run QuietMBP -- a third-party application that made small changes to the way his MacBook Pro ran to reduce the whining noise -- prior to the firmware update. Meanwhile, another MacNN reader reports that his new MacBook Pro doesn't need the firmware update or a third-party software application to quiet his notebook, saying that the whine was never present in the later model.

I havean early production 1.83 & to apples credit after numerous problems, 2 motherboards, 2 fans & a battery was upgraded to a 2.0 core duo - the difference is remarkable - flawless & almost completely silent even before the firmware update...
