Pocket-sized Mercury drive
Other World Computing (OWC) today began shipping its new pocket-sized OWC Mercury On-The-Go FireWire 800/400+USB2 portable storage drive. The device makes use of 2.5-inch SATA hard drive mechanisms to offer capacities of up to 200GB, measures 3 x 5.5 x 1-inches, and weighs less than 11-ounces. Every OWC Mercury On-The-Go drive make use of a custom Oxford 924-based FireWire 800/USB 2.0 bridge and are bus-powered, negating the need for a separate power adapter. The new drives serve as bootable FireWire/USB 2.0 interfaces, and include EMC Retrospect software for data protection as well as Intech HD Speedtools utility suite. The drives are available in 100GB ($260), 120GB ($210), 160GB ($300), and 200GB ($380) capacities.
